Google’s Cultural Institute Collection is a powerful resource and features a wealth of virtual museum tours, photos, and more. The Art Project is a great place to start. You’ll want to choose the “Museum View Only” filter to explore the extensive collection of virtual tours. The quality is top notch and provides viewers with the best experience possible–short of being at the exhibits in person.
The Art Project is only one of many categories available. The main page goes on almost indefinitely (though you can search for specific items) and provides the opportunity to “explore cultural treasures in extraordinary detail, from hidden gems to masterpieces.”
Teachers, students, and artists everywhere can create and share their own galleries by clicking the “My Galleries” link on the top right of the screen and adding their own artwork. This opportunity to share one’s artwork to an authentic worldwide audience is limited only by one’s interest in doing so. Be warned though, you’ll want to leave plenty of time to explore this resource, and it’s one you’ll go back to again and again!
