Google Apps Gains National Momentum

Google Apps for Domains Education (http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/edu/index.html), which the district selected as the cornerstone of its digital toolbox, is being used more frequently by schools across the country (http://www.eschoolnews.com/2010/04/28/oregon-schools-adopt-google-apps-to-save-cash-expand-ed-tech-offerings/), reinforcing the decision by the district’s technology committee nearly a year and a half ago. Already ahead of the curve, CCSD uses this suite of tools as the platform for its comprehensive K-5 curriculum, as well as 6-12, which is currently under development. The “teacher only” domain is quite active, with access to the domain up 25% in the past month. A growing number of teachers have begun using this tool with students, and the feedback has been extremely positive.  In fact, access to the “student/teacher” domain is up 45% since the April 20, 2010 professional development sessions which focused on engaging our students with this suite of tools.
